Help give vulnerable children in Kenya opportunities
'Where love and education build a future together'
Helaas groeien nog altijd veel kinderen in Kenia op zonder ouders of in een onveilige situatie. De Friese Ria Fennema trok zich dit aan en emigreerde in 2001 naar Kenia om zich in te zetten voor weeskinderen en andere kinderen in nood. Aanvankelijk lag de nadruk op de opvang van weeskinderen. Dankzij actieve fondsenwerving werd het mogelijk om deze kinderen niet alleen onderdak te geven, maar ook goed onderwijs – tot en met de universiteit.
Tegenwoordig ondersteunen Ria en haar team van Keniaanse medewerkers jaarlijks ruim 1400 kinderen. Dat gebeurt via outreachprogramma’s, pleegzorg, tijdelijke noodopvang en op drie locaties verspreid door Kenia. Zo kan er altijd hulp op maat worden geboden.
In Nederland zetten vrijwilligers van de stichting Blessed Generation zich in om dit bijzondere werk mogelijk te maken.

Donations to Blessed Generation are tax-deductible. If you donate 40 euros monthly, it will cost you an average of 27 euros net, while the foundation still receives the full 40 euros.

Our Projects
Ruiru – Blessed Generation Highschool
In Ruiru, just outside Nairobi, is the Blessed Generation High School. More than 125 young people from underprivileged backgrounds live and learn here on a single campus. They receive education, three meals a day, a bed, and most importantly: social-emotional support. All of this takes place in a safe environment, where our social workers are present every day.
Nyamira – Shelter and Education in Western Kenya
Nyamira is located in the hilly west of Kenya. Here we take in over 100 children, of whom 75 are permanent residents. They live in small family homes with a maximum of 10 children, each with dedicated caregivers. Some children are in temporary crisis care, while others are waiting for adoption or placement with family.
Malindi – School, daycare, outreach and Lighthouse
On the east coast of Kenya is our location in Malindi. Here, there is a school with over 300 students, a shelter for about 30 children, and the newest program, the Lighthouse, which now (2025) has 14 homes for adoption and foster care. In addition, we have an outreach program.
